Do I need ChatGPT Dots?
Short answer
Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents inside ChatGPT, announced in fall 2026. Your first dot comes with ChatGPT Pro (plans from $100/month) or Business Premium. Not available on Pro in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland at launch, and rolling out gradually. Dots make sense for people with big ongoing projects who already pay for ChatGPT Pro. For most small businesses and regular people, it's more than you need right now.
Who it's for
- You already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium
- You have big ongoing projects (research, reports, documents)
- You want an agent that keeps working while your computer is off
- You mostly work at a computer
Who it's not for (yet)
- You're on a tight budget (it needs a Pro plan)
- You're in the EU, UK, or Switzerland on a Pro plan
- You just need help with messages and scheduling
- You're new to AI and want to start small
One safety tip
Never give any AI agent your bank password. Start with low-risk jobs (drafting, reminders, research) before you connect money or customer accounts.
