How much does an AI agent cost per month?

Short answer

As of October 16, 2026 (approximate, check official pages): the cheapest way to start is Meta Muse, which has a free tier with usage limits and paid plans at about $20 and $100 a month (Meta asks for a card to start). Grok Bot comes with the X Premium plan at about $30 a month and up. ChatGPT Dots need ChatGPT Pro, from about $100 a month, or Business Premium. Your real cost can go up if you set an agent to run tasks very often, so start small.

Is there a free AI agent?

Meta Muse has a free tier with usage limits, though Meta asks for a payment card to start. Free chat apps (including free Grok chat) can answer questions but are not the full agent.

Hidden costs: usage limits and always-on routines

Plans include limits on how much the agent can do. If you set it to check things every few minutes or run many tasks a day, you can hit those limits or need a bigger plan. Read the usage terms on the official page.

How to keep costs low

Is it worth it? Do the hour-value math

Write down how many hours a month the job takes you and what an hour of your time is worth. If the plan costs less than the time it saves, and you will actually use it, it may be worth it. If not, the honest answer is "not yet."
